Fred Rouse, a wide receiver out of Tallahassee Lincoln High School.
|
Quite A Catch
He's all-everything, a recruiting target for schools in every major conference. The national recognition has been flattering. He's the latest elite skill player from Florida, widely known for producing dozens of blue-chippers each season. The statewide acclaim has been expected.

Stories About QB Are No Tall Tales

ABOUT THE TEAM
Best Of South
The Tampa Tribune's third annual Best of the South team was chosen by 18 college recruiting coordinators from across the nation with an eye on the Feb. 2 signing date. Each coordinator was asked to pick 20 prospects from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia - covering the Southern region and all of ACC/SEC territory.
The ballot - which listed 86 players - was compiled by staff writers Joey Johnston, Bob Bellone and Rick Mayer. It was based on a consensus of several recruiting analysts. Receiving votes were 80 of the 86 players on the ballot, along with 12 write-in candidates.
The top 20 vote-getters made the team.
Florida had 10 picks, followed by Louisiana and North Carolina with two each. Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee had one each. No school had more than one selection.
